Although MiD relates to most oral diseases and aspects of dentistry, its application to caries is probably the most evolved. Carious lesions that are de mineralised and non-cavitated are now “healed” instead of surgically removed. Tyas et al.1, as part of a FDI Commission-initiated project, provided an overview of the principles and concepts of MiD, suggested techniques and presented the results of clinical studies as they pertain to dental caries.
